Club Members & Roles

All our club members are volunteers who give up their valuable time to ensure the running of the club and teams. The below roles make up the Club Committee Members.

 

Club Chairman

CHRIS BALMER

The role of the Chairman of Litherland Athletic JFC is to oversee the running of the club and ensure that it is run efficiently and managed appropriately.

The role of a club chairman for a football club is to lead the club, ensure it’s well-managed, and make key decisions. They are also the club’s spokesperson.

  • Plan and lead meetings: Chair club and committee meetings, and ensure that all issues are covered
  • Make decisions: Make key decisions for the club, and ensure that decisions are made when needed
  • Manage finances: Ensure the club is financially sustainable.
  • Uphold rules and regulations: Ensure the club operates in line with its constitution and rules
  • Promote the club: Promote the club’s vision and values, and act as the club’s spokesperson.
  • Delegate tasks: Delegate tasks to club committee & members, and ensure that agreed tasks are carried out.
  • Manage conflicts: Help the club deal with differences of opinion and conflicts.
  • Ensure safety: Ensure the club operates in a safe and child-friendly environment

Vice Chairman

IAN WOODS

The vice chairman of Litherland Athletic JFC supports the club’s chairperson and ensures the club’s strategy is followed. They also represent the club at meetings and other events.

  • Support the chairperson: Attend committee meetings and help the chairperson make decisions
  • Act as chairperson: Take on the role of chairperson if the chairperson is unable to attend a meeting
  • Represent the club: Act as a spokesperson for the club at meetings and other events
  • Support other club officers: Help other club officers with their roles
  • Support youth welfare: Work with the welfare officer on issues related to the club’s youth
  • Ensure club complies with laws: Make sure the club follows licensing, health and safety, child protection, and insurance laws
  • Ensure club’s best interests are served: Consider the interests of the club’s players, parents, guardians, sponsors, and members
  • Complete required courses: Complete any courses required by the Football Association for the role of vice chairperson

Club Secretary

Greg Chesterton

The club secretary for Litherland Athletic JFC is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the club. They ensure the club runs smoothly and that everyone follows through on what was agreed at meetings.

  • Responsibilities

    • Arrange meetings: Plan and organise meetings, including league meetings and team manager meetings
    • Take minutes: Record what was discussed at meetings.
    • Fixtures: Manage and publish fixtures for all teams.
    • Distribute documents: Share agendas and other important documents with members
    • Ensure compliance: Make sure the club follows its constitution and codes of practice
    • Represent the club: Act as the main point of contact for the club and represent it at external meetings
    • Organise facilities: Book facilities for matches, and ensure they are available when needed
    • Register teams: Register teams with the relevant leagues.
    • Provide feedback: Give constructive feedback to members, parents, and team managers
    • Encourage development: Support the continued development of all members

    The club secretary is a key role within the club, and they work closely with other members to ensure the club functions effectively.

Welfare Officer

KERRY MORTON

Our club welfare officer for Litherland Athletic JFC is responsible for safeguarding children and young people. They ensure that club staff understand their duty of care and that activities for children are run safely.

  • Educate Coaches: Ensure that coaches & managers understand their duty of care towards children and young people
  • Manage the FA CRC disclosure process: Ensure that people who regularly work with children complete the FA’s disclosure process
  • Organise trips: Help ensure that trips away are organised safely
  • Promote best practices: Help develop best practice processes for running activities for children and young people
  • Work with other officers: Work with the Youth League Welfare Officer (YLWO) and the County FA Welfare Officer
  • Promote the FA’s Respect Programme: Help promote the FA’s Respect Programme

Social Media Manager

The Clubs Social Media manager is responsible for sharing, creating and implementing social media strategies to promote the club and engage with fans, parents & followers. They also manage the club’s social media channels, including posting & creating content, responding to followers, and analysing performance.

  • Create content: Generate, edit, and publish content such as text, photos, and videos
  • Manage channels: Oversee the club’s social media channels on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Respond to fans/followers: Interact with fans & followers to build a sense of loyalty and connection
  • Research: Stay up to date with news and trends in football and social media and share with Managers & Committee
  • Collaborate with Managers: Work with team managers & committee members to secure content and assets
  • Suggest new features: Propose ideas to grow the club’s social media presence, such as promotions and competitions

Social & Fundraising Secretary

DANIELLE BRITO-COLL

The social & fundraising secretary for Litherland Athletic JFC is responsible in organising social events to bring all club or league members together to enhance relationships within the club, this can involve Christmas parties, end-of-season award presentations and football tours.

They are also responsible for fundraising activities for LAJFC this can include raffles, auctions, tournaments, and selling merchandise. They will also partner with local businesses and community members for donations.

Selling raffle tickets in advance of tours & games, offer prizes donated by local businesses, and hold raffles online using Facebook.

Auctions

  • Auction off items like sports memorabilia, gift cards, or services
  • Set up the auction on an online platform like eBay or Facebook
  • Promote the event through social media and word of mouth.

    • Host a events to bring the club and community together
    • Organise tournaments

Club Development Officer

MICHAEL ROBINSON

Role Purpose
To support, develop, and retain coaches across the club by raising coaching standards, promoting positive learning environments, and embedding the club’s values and clubs philosophy.

  • Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and support a clear coach development pathway across all age groups
    • Support coaches in accessing FA and County FA qualifications
    • Act as a mentor and main point of contact for coaches
    • Observe sessions where appropriate and provide constructive feedback
    • Promote player-centred, age-appropriate coaching in line with FA guidance
    • Support safeguarding, welfare, and inclusive practice
    • Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of coaches
    • Work with the Club Committee, Welfare Officer, and County FA
    • Share good practice and development opportunities across the club
